Middle Modi Hydroelectric Project (MMHP) is located about 40km north-west of Pokhara in Kaski and Parbat Districts,Gandaki Zone of Western Development. The project lies in theBhuktangle, Deupur and Tilhar VDCs of Parbat District andSalyan and Lumle VDCs of Kaski District. The headworks islocated at Birethanti village. Atpresent there is about 1.5km longearthen road access to theheadworks area from Nayapulbazaar which is the nearest pointwith all year road access along thePokhara – Baglung highway. Thepowerhouse lies opposite to thePokhara – Baglung highway at theright bank of the Modi withwaterway alignment located at the right bank of Modi Khola.
Middle Modi Hydropower Limited wasestablished in 2065 in Lalitpur, Nepal under thecompany Act 2053 of the government of Nepal(Registration no. 1072/064/065) with the mainobjective to develop hydropower sector of Nepalthrough the private investment. It’s a companypromoted by Chaudhary Group Nepal and CoastalProjects Limited, India through a parentcompany Nepal Jalabidhyut Parbardan tathaBikas Limited (NJPBL). NJPB holds 100% sharesin Middle Modi Hydropower Limited and 77.85%in Himal Hydro and General Construction Limited. CG Energy Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. and CoastalProjects Limited India jointly holds 82.2%shares in NJPBL.
